Georgi Dimitroff, Bulgarian Premier, today received the Bulgarian Jewish delegates to the World Zionist Congress just before their departure for Basle, and pledged that “while in various European countries anti-Semitism is increasing, we shall not allow this to happen in Bulgaria. We shall punish severely, even put to death, preachers of racial hatred.”
Pointing out that the government is continuing its efforts to guarantee full equalization of rights to all citizens, regardless of religion or race, Dimitroff stated that “on principle” the government will not hinder prospective immigrants to Palestine from leaving the country. In addition he promised that the government would facilitate the departure of such immigrants.
