William C. Bullitt, the United States envoy in the Near East, yesterday conferred with Moshe Shertok, chief of the political department of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, in the quarters of the American consulate here, where Bullitt was the guest of Lowell C. Pinkerton, the American consul. During a lengthy conversation between the American diplomat and Shertok, the political and other problems facing Palestine were discussed.
After the conference, Bullitt, accompanied by Pinkerton and Prof. Israel Kligler of the science faculty of the Hebrew University, visited the University’s national library and Hadassah’s medical laboratories, which are named after Dr. Nathan Ratnoff, head of Beth Israel Hospital of New York. Bullitt had high praise for the work being done at the University and the medical research laboratories, stating that it was equal to the best of its kind he had ever seen. Passing through Semaria, Bullitt was very favorably impressed by the Jewish colonization there, and said that it reminded him of California colonization in 1910. He departed for Cairo today by plane.
