Business firms nationwide, except in Jerusalem, will close down for 24 hours Wednesday in protest against “unbearable taxation.” Merchants are particularly incensed over what they call the “inflation tax” in which they are supposed to pay taxes on the increased value of their stock caused by inflation.

JTA DURING TRANSIT STRIKE

For the duration of the mass transit strike, the Daily News Bulletin will continue to appear in a two-page form. Despite the drastically reduced staff and related problems due to the strike, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency will provide its subscribers with major news developments.
