The United States delegation at the Peace Conference will do everything possible to have guarantees of human rights and freedoms included in the peace treaties, Secretary of State James F. Byrnes pledged today.
In a letter to Dr. Everett Clinchy, president of the Rational Conference of Christians and Jews, released by Mr. Byrnes’ office, the Secretary of State pointed out that the draft treaties already had guarantees of religious freedom, and that the U.S. Government would make every effort to see that this principle was followed in preparing the final treaties.
