California State Treasurer Matt Fong lifted his state’s sanctions against Swiss banks. Fong, who will officially announce the decision at Monday’s meeting of state and municipal finance officials in New York on the Nazi gold issue, cited the banks’ progress in identifying dormant accounts from the Holocaust era. The Republican candidate for a U.S. Senate seat also noted the lack of Jewish support for the sanctions.
