A call to American Jewry to come forward and register itself solidly in favor of Palestine by buying a Shekel for the forthcoming Zionist Congress which is to be held in August, was issued yesterday by the United States Central Shekel and Election Board for the Nineteenth World Zionist Congress.
The period of April 25 to May 25 has been designated to carry through an intensive campaign for Shekel registration in America.
“The Shekel campaign must become the mobilization on a large scale of Jewish public opinion for Zionist action,” the call says, urging upon all groups of American Zionists to recruit new Shekel payers and to make the forthcoming Zionist Congress “the genuine expression of large masses of our people.”
The date of election of delegates to the next Zionist Congress is officially set for Sunday, June 23. The place where the Congress will be held is expected to be announced soon by the World Zionist Executive.
