A campaign to raise $2,500,000 to erect a memorial in Paris to the 6,000,000 Jews murdered by the Nazis will be launched here shortly by the Unknown Jewish Martyr Memorial Fund, Inc., it was announced yesterday at a press conference addressed by Leon Jouhaux, president of the Economic Council of France and a member of the world committee of the Fund. Other speakers included Rep. Emanuel Celler, a member of the group’s U.S. executive committee, Moses L. Kove, Assistant U.S. Attorney, and Dr. Alexander S. Spiegel, executive director of the Fund.
The speakers urged erection of the memorial as a lasting tribute to the 6,000,000 Jewish martyrs and as a warning to all future practitioners of genocide. The Fund hopes to raise $2,000,000 of the total goal in the United States.
