The Canadian Federation of University Women approved at its convention here a resolution, offered by the National Council of Jewish Women, which asked stronger appeals to the Federal Government for a ban on hate literature.
The resolution urged amendments to the Criminal Code “to provide stronger safeguards against situations of racial discrimination and religious intolerance, while continuing to respect the fundamental rights of the individual,” and specifically “to examine the use of public media of communication which seek to arouse racial antagonism, violence and hatred against any ethnic, religious or racial group.”
Recently, a number of major Canadian cities were flooded with anti-Negro and anti-Semitic mailings. The editor of a neighborhood newspaper in Ottawa insisted this week that he had the right to reprint the infamous canard, “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion,” because, despite protests, “the facts are true.”
