The Canadian Government was urged to open the doors of the dominion to a number of displaced Jews in a resolution adopted last night at the closing meeting of the seventh plenary session of the Canadian Jewish Congress. In another resolution, the 400 delegates pledged continued aid to Jews overseas through the $2,000,000 drive which is to be launched shortly.
The session urged the U.N. inquiry commission to recommend the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine; condemned terrorism in Palestine and asked Canadian Jews not to lend support to organizations backing the terrorists reaffirmed Canadian Jewry’s solidarity with the Jewish Agency and voiced its readiness for continued cooperation with the World Jewish Congress. Samuel Bronfman, who was re-elected president of the Congress, Louis Lipsky and Dr. Salo Baron were among the speakers who addressed the closing session.
