The Canadian Government will not adopt a final position on trusteeship for Palestine until it has had an opportunity to study the question f whether trusteeship will produce a “constructive solution” to the Palestine problem and whether it is an enforceable proposal, Minister for External Affairs Louis St. Laurent declared in Parliament today.
Criticism, of Canada’s earlier pro-partition policy was made by M.P. John T. Hacket, Conservative, who asserted that Canada had entered the Palestine controversy with too little experience and too much enthusiasm. He charged that Canada supported partition without inquiring as to the plan’s chances for Implementation.
