The Canadian Jewish Congress has acted to separate the administration of tax-free charitable donations from funds in its general treasury, in order to conform with income tax regulations, it was learned today. A trust fund, the Canadian Jewish Congress Charities Committee, has been created to handle the administration and financial support of institutions that have traditionally been CJC beneficiaries. These include the Hebrew Teachers Seminary of Montreal and L’Midrasha L’Morim of Toronto. In addition, the trust fund will administer the operation of the CJC religious affairs committee’s chaplaincy services, programs for the advancement of religion, the CJC library and archives and other charitable activities. The United Jewish Relief Agencies of Canada have also brought their procedures in line with tax regulations.
