The Canadian Jewish Congress was informed by Robert H. Winters, Minister of Public Works, that the Canadian Government will give “sympathetic consideration” to a suggestion submitted by the CJC that a non-discrimination clause be included in the amendments to the National Housing Act now contemplated.

“The Government is in full accord with the principle of non-discrimination, ” the Minister wrote to the Canadian Jewish Congress. At the same time the reply referred to the workings of the Housing Act and the implications and difficulties inherent in the implementation of the suggestion. The CJC intends to request an interview with the Minister in order to go into the matter more fully.
