The need for strengthening, intensifying and expanding Jewish welfare programs and budgets for the coming year since they are “directly contributing to the war effort,” was stressed at the fourth annual meeting of the United Jewish Welfare Fund and Service Councils, by Samuel J. Zacks, retiring president.
Reporting on the results of the Fall campaign of the Welfare fund, Mr. B. Vise, chairman of the appeal, revealed that 6,469 contributors had pledged a sum exceeding that of last year by $60,000. The Women’s Service Council raised $16,900. The meeting, which was attended by 350 Welfare Fund contributors and Service Council members, elected Morris S. Till as president of the organization for the coming year.
