Canadian Jewish officials are hoping the Ontario government will begin funding all private and independent schools, including Jewish schools, after a United Nations panel ruled that the province’s practice of funding only Catholic schools is discriminatory. Although the panel gave the Ontario government 90 days to comply with the Nov. 5 ruling, there is no penalty if the province chooses to ignore it.
