The Jewish population of Canada has risen by 23,000 in the last three years to a total of about 190,000, it was reported here today. The spurt in immigration of Jews resulted from a liberalization of immigration policy by the Doclinion, in line with a policy of admitting numbers of European DP’s. The Canadian Jewish Congress has spent some $2,000,000 on the settlement of war refugees in Canada since 1947, it was reported.
