The Canadian Trades and Labor Council, which has been meeting here in its annual convention, has unanimously adopted a resolution calling on the Dominion Government to enact legislation barring discrimination in employment, housing and admission to public places.
The convention accepted the report of its committee on racial discrimination which found that Canada has little “open, violent expression” of race hatred, but added that “the problem has taken on subtle forms of discrimination in the fields of employment, rental and sale of property and entertainment.” The convention also heard greetings from the Histadrut which were conveyed by Abraham Feinberg, American trade union official who recently returned from a trip to Israel.
