A delegation of leaders of the Canadian Congress of labor has called on Canadian Government officials to press for the establishment of a fair employment practices act to give protection to workers who have been denied employment or otherwise been discriminated against because of race, creed, color, ancestry or origin.
The delegation specifically urged the government to cancel contracts it had awarded to employers who discriminate in the hiring of labor. The delegation was headed by Donald MacDonald and R.J. Lamoureux, secretary-treasurer of the trade union organization and chairman of its national committee on racial tolerance, respectively. It also included Kalmen Kaplansky, director of the Jewish Labor Committee.
