Asserting that sanctions against Israel at the present time would be “premature and unwise,” Lester B. Pearson, Canadian External Affairs Minister, told Parliament last night there was “a very good possibility” that Israeli troops would withdraw from the Gaza Strip and Akaba Gulf territory.
The possibility of obtaining Israeli withdrawal depends on linking the necessity for such action by Israel with “the equal necessity of ensuring that withdrawal should not be to the state of affairs existing last October,” he said.
