John G. Diefenbaker, Prime Minister of Canada, has introduced in Parliament legislation to put into writing for the first time Canada’s Bill of Rights guaranteeing, among other rights, freedom of discrimination by reason of race, religion, color and national origin, the Canadian Jewish Congress reported this week-end.
The statute will come before Parliament when it reconvenes next January. The bill will cover only the Federal Government’s jurisdiction and will not affect the various provincial governments.
