The Israeli trade commission which arrived here last weekend was formally introduced to Prime Minister John G, Die fenbaker today by Israel Ambassador Yaacov Herzog. The meeting, which took place in the Premier’s office, included informal discussions on trade relations between the two countries. Premier Diefenbaker expressed keen interest in the results of the visit and asked that his greetings be extended to Israeli Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion who visited Canada last May.
The members of the trade commission were later guests at an official luncheon tendered by Canadian Trade Minister Hess. The group then broke up into working parties to discuss specialized phases of trade and investment with Canadian officials. Following a reception at the Israel Embassy here, the group, split up into two parties, left for Montreal and Toronto to visit industrial plants in those cities and elsewhere in Canada.
