A number of steamship companies have abandoned Mediterranean cruises for this Winter and Spring because of wholesale cancellations of booked passages by Americans following the Wall Street crash, it is reported here. Of the 300 Americans booked for a steamer due at Haifa, January 16, all but 70 cancelled their reservations. Boolings on other cruises have been cut by a third. Only the “Mauretania” seems to be unaffected. She is due March 10 with 900 passengers, including 250 Jewish Passover tourists.
