Irvin R. Schindeler, the captain, and his crew of eight–all of whom are under 30–were deported from Ponta del Grada by order of the State Department. Their ship is being detained by Portuguese authorities. Schindler was released after posting a $1,000 bail while two of the crew members were sent to Ellis Island for not possessing passports.
