Ben Touster, of New York, treasurer of CARE, today presented two gifts, including printing equipment and a technical library, to the Beersheba Comprehensive School and the Government’s Institute for Arid Zone Research here.
The printing equipment, valued at 3,500 Israeli pounds ($1,166) was given to the school so that Beersheba youth could improve their studies of printing techniques without the need to complete such studies in other schools at Tel Aviv or in other cities in Israel.
The technical library, costing about $3,000, will help further intensification of researches and laboratory experiments at the Institute. In the last three years, Mr. Touster said. CARE’s equipment contributions for vocational education in Israel has amounted to a value of 250,000 Israeli pounds ($83,333).
Both gifts, Mr. Touster said, “came from the hearts of the American people.” Mr. Touster is an honorary citizen of Beersheba, having had that honor conferred upon him here in 1953, when he was president of United Hias Service.
