Carlsbad Rabbi Celebrates Forty Years at Post

The fortieth anniversary of his services as Rabbi of Carlsbad was observed yesterday by Dr. Ignaz Ziegler.

Dr. Ziegler was born in Also-Kubin in Hungary in September 1861 and was educated at Budapest University and the Budapest Rabbinical Seminary. Immediately after his graduation he was called to th Rabbinate of Carlsbad, a post which he still holds. Through his efforts, the Carlsbad Hospital was established, which provides food, shelter and medical treatment for poor Jewish who come to Carlsbad for treatment. He was also responsible for the foundation of the Jewish Home for the Aged, which is to be opened in a few days. He is the author of a number of works, including the “History of Judaism,” Religious Disputations in the Middle Ages,” “spiritual Religion and Jewish Religious Law,” “Romain Rolland and Judaism” etc.

Mrs. Esther V. Greenfield, mother of Alfred M. Greenfield and a resident of Philadelphia for forty-two years, died Wednesday in her summer home in Atlantic City, at the age of 70 years. She survived her husban, lacob Greenfield by less than four months.
