A passionate appeal for the complete abandonment of all religious and racial quarrels was made here today by King Carol, who addressed the congress of the Orthodox Church Union.
“I, who am a Christian, appeal to all members of other faiths to stand at our side in the fight for unity and for a united Rumania,” the King said.
The official government organ, l’Independence Rumania, called the King’s appeal timely and most necessary, “particularly when destructive forces, working under the cloak of a return to medieval obscurity, ignore the fact that religious and racial conflicts only retard the consolidation of a country.
