President Carter is one of the 56 candidates for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize for his role in the Israeli Egyptian peace treaty, Norwegian Nobel Institute director Jakob Sverdrup said yesterday. The winner will be announced Oct. 17 and the presentation will take place Dec. 10. The prize was awarded last year to Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and Israeli Premier Menachem Begin for their roles in the Camp David agreements.
