President Carter has assured the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith of his abiding commitment to “preserve the integrity and security” of Israel in a peaceful Middle East.
The statement was made in a telegram to Burton M. Joseph, ADL’s national chairman, to mark the opening of the ADL’s national executive committee meeting at The Breakers Hotel. Palm Beach, Florida. The policymaking body consisting of ADL leaders from all over the country, concluded its meeting yesterday.
After praising the ADL’s “efforts to eradicate not only anti-Semitism, but all forms of prejudice and discrimination,” the creed “which my Administration is fully dedicated to uphold.” Carter added: “I also welcome this opportunity to assure you of my abiding commitment to preserve the integrity and security of the State of Israel in a peaceful Middle East.”
