President-elect Jimmy Carter was called upon “not to retreat from campaign assurances to protect the integrity of Israel.” The plea came from the national executive board of the Workmen’s Circle at its plenary session today.
“Now that the election results are in, there may well be an attempt by Arab nations to escalate their campaign of hostility against Israel,” the Jewish fraternal organization’s message to Carter said. “The word must go forth unequivocally that in the new Administration there will be no lessening of concern or assistance to assure the security of Israel.”
In another action, the Workmen’s Circle said that it was canvassing its organizational investments “to make certain that we are not dealing with financial or business institutions which may be involved in aiding the Arab boycott against Israel.”
