Enrique Oltuski, the only Jew ever to serve in a Cuban Cabinet, was replaced by the Castro regime today as Minister of Communications. Oltuski’s resignation wasannounced by President Dorticos after a 13-hour cabinet session.
(Washington sources said that Oltuski had been removed from the Government presumably because he had not been “aggressive enough” in application of the Castro revolutionary principles.)
Oltuski, who is about 30, is the son of an Orthodox Jewish couple residing in Santa Clara where his father has a shoe factory. He is a graduate of the University of Miami and was an active figure in the Castro revolt against the Batista regime. He was named to the Cabinet in January, 1959.
