Dutch newspapers reaching here today from Amsterdam through neutral countries reveal that the Catholic bishops in the Netherlands issued a new pastoral letter condemning “the unmerciful and unjust treatment meted out against Jews by those in power in our country.”
The pastoral letter, according to the Dutch newspapers which are under Nazi control, was read in all churches in Holland on April 19. Its publication in the press was forbidden.
