“The Catholic Church does not wish to be master of Palestine and it is not inspired by feelings of anti-Semitism, which are contrary to the Christian principles of brotherhood and charity”, writes the Catholic Press of Italy in a note which appears to be officially inspired. “The Holy See has done and is doing all that is possible to remove all obstacles to peace in Palestine. The election of an English priest in the person of Mgr. Kean as Auxiliary Patriarch of Palestine is proof of the earnest desire of the Church to stand in good relations with the British Administration.”
“The relations between the Patriarch and the High Commissioner are cordial and correct.”
