In Detroit, when Edward Kebalitis, commander of the Catholic War Veterans of Michigan, learned why the Jewish group would not participate, he told John Nemon, its commander, that “our marchers will be glad to carry the Jewish standard. ” The Michigan Catholics also will carry the Jewish veterans’ American flag.
In Englewood, the St. Cecilia Post of the Catholic Veterans offered to carry the colors of Post 208 of the Jewish War Veterans Saturday. “A true and living example of comradeship and brotherhood, ” said Commander Lester Mandelman, in accepting the offer.
