Precautions against a repetition of the recent Lemberg events were taken by the leaders of the Jewish community of Sosnowiec, upon advice of the local police.
In statements given out during synagogue services yesterday, the Jews of the town were warned against attending the synagogue on this coming Saturday, and Jewish children were cautioned not to appear in the streets.
The occasion for the issuance of this warning is a forthcoming Catholic conference which will be followed by a street demonstration in which 100,000 persons, including many priests, are expected to participate.
The Synagogue Committee also addressed a request to the Shekel Commission asking that the elections to the Zionist Congress, set for Sunday, be postponed in order that the Jews may remain in their homes throughout the Catholic conference.
It was during a Catholic demonstration in Lemberg on June 3rd that the libel that Jewish girl students profaned the Catholic religion was spread, leading to the student excesses in Lemberg and other university towns.
