Celebrations honoring Israel’s tenth anniversary are continuing throughout the United States.
The Governors of Nebraska, Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma, and Minnesota have issued special proclamations honoring Israel. Mayors of such cities as Chicago and Omaha have made similar official expressions.
At a meeting of the City Council of Los Angeles, the Mayor greeted Israel Consul General A. Biran. The Israeli flag was flown over Los Angeles City Hall as a tribute.
In Chicago, 20,000 blue and white Israeli flowers were distributed. Special prayers were recited this week-end in Orthodox, Conservative and Reform Jewish congregations expressing thanksgiving for Israel’s success.
Leaders of the general community in civic and cultural fields attended receptions honoring Israel in a number of cities. Expressions of congratulation have been received by the Israel Embassy in Washington and consulates around the country from many sources.
