A census of Jews in unoccupied France, similar to the one held by the Nazi authorities in occupied France, has been ordered under a law published today in the Journal Official. Both foreign and native Jews are affected by the edict.
The registration deadline for the census is July 12. Failure to register will be punished by a prison term, fine or commitment to concentration camp. The census will include registration of all property held by Jews.
