Praise for the American rabbinate as a group that has “been most vigilant in the advocacy of the spiritual essence of American democracy and stalwart defenders of American institutions” was voiced by President Truman in a letter to the Central Conference of American Rabbis which opens its 60th annual convention here tomorrow.
Almost five hundred rabbis are expected to attend the convention which will continue through Tuesday. Highlight of the meeting will include the presidential address of Dr. Abraham J. Feldman, of Hartford, and two anniversary papers to be delivered by Dr. Samuel H. Goldenson, of New York, and Rabbi Harry Essrig of Grand Rapids, Mich.
