The cessation of Jewish immigration into Palestine is hoped for by Vaticam circles as the result of the deliberations of the Council of the League of Nations, the first session of which was opened here yesterday.

Vaticam representatives are very active in their efforts to influence the representatives of Catholic countries to the Council in this direction, the correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency learned today. It is expected that the Italian Government will support the Vatican’s views with regard to Palestine.

The representative of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency understands that Austen Chamberlain, British Foreign Secretary who will represent Great Britaim at the Council’s session, is dissatisfied with the tone of the report of the Permanent Mandate’s Commission on Palestine and will introduce a motion to change this report to read in a more favorable tone.
