Dr. Solomon Gaon, Sephardi Chief Rabbi of the British Commonwealth, called on American Jewry last night to establish an organized educational, religious and economic aid program to save Sephardic Judaism here and abroad from assimilation.
Addressing the second annual Sephardic Leadership Conference held at Yeshiva University, Dr. Gaon urged that American Jewry launch a communal effort to help establish new Sephardic congregations, establish a scholarship assistance program for the training of rabbis, teachers and lay leaders in a joint program aimed at saving the traditions and heritage of Sephardic Jewry.
