Bonn Chancellor Konrad Adenauer, who is in this city on a visit, today received representatives of the Berlin Jewish community and discussed the rising wave of anti-Semitism in West Germany and the local restitution situation with them.
Asserting that the West German Government has taken measures to fight anti-Semitic incidents, the Chancellor said that they were being arranged by “certain elements.” He also promised Heinz Galinski and Joseph Weltlinger, co-chairman of the Berlin Jewish Community, that he would intervene with the local authorities to bring their restitution and indemnification programs into line with the rest of Germany.
