Candles at a pre-Christmas midnight service held in the Park Temple Methodist Church here on Dec. 25 were lit from a master candle brought to the church by its minister, the Rev, John H. Hanger, from Chanukah services at nearby Temple Emanu-El. Dr. Marius Ransom is rabbi of the Temple.
Rev. Hanger, in urging members of his congregation to light their candles from the master candle which he had kindled at the Temple Chanukah services, declared: “As the light of Christ was taken from the flame of Judaism in ancient days, and as this very flame in your hands was originally kindled in the Jewish Temple, so must there be the spirit of love for another in the heart of Christian and Jew today.”
