Charles J. Bensley has been named president of the Israel Education Fund of the United Jewish Appeal, Joseph Meyerhoff, chairman of the board, announced today. The fund is seeking to raise $127,600, 000 over the next five years for the construction of secondary schools and scholarship aid for Israel’s youth.
Mr. Bensley, a lawyer by profession, was a member of the New York City Board of Education for many years. He led a group of American educators on a study mission to Israel last March. The recommendations of the group formed the basis of the UJA education assistance program.
