Leonard Weiss, a former high ranking State Department official. has been appointed representative of the World Bank in Dacca. Bangladesh. Weiss. who was born in Chicago and is the son of the late Ben and Esther Weiss, is believed to be the only Jew now assigned by the bank to a position equivalent to an Ambassador. During his 25 years in the State Department, Weiss was U.S. Minister for Political and Economic Affairs in New Delhi and Minister for Economic and Commercial Affairs in Bonn.
