Maxwell Kunin, a Chicago Jewish philanthropist and realtor, who died in 1959 at the age of 59, has bequeathed 25 percent of his $8,900,000 estate to the Joint Distribution Committee, according to a will filed in probate court, it was reported here today.
Leroy Krein, his lawyer, said today that the JDC will receive $250,000 under the inventory filed this week, He added that the money is to be spent “solely for relief of needy immigrants to Israel.” Mrs, Kunin told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that her husband, who was born in Philadelphia, took a great interest in Jewish charitable institutions and was a member of two congregations, a Reform and an Orthodox.
