Rabbi Isaac Halevi Herzog, Chief Rabbi of Israel called upon the Jews of New York today to participate in celebration of Jerusalem’s 3,000th anniversary as a means of reaffirming their “faith and devotion to the basic tenets of Judaism.”
In a message to the Committee for the Celebration of Jerusalem’s 3,000th anniversary, which is sponsoring the salute to Israel’s capital in cooperation with the Greater New York Committee for State of Israel Bonds at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, October 20th, Rabbi Herzog described Jerusalem as “the symbol of our new and vibrant Israel.” Rabbi Herzog’s message, which was sent from Jerusaelem, was released here by Dr. Israel Goldstein, chairman of the Jerusalem Anniversary Committee.
