Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Nissim called on the Israeli populace tonight to draw courage and inspiration from the glorious past to face current threats from the country’s enemies. In a Passover message broadcast over the nation’s radio network, the Chief Rabbi said that Israel as a people is small and poor, its resources limited and its needs great, and surrounded by a wall of enmity and must constantly be poised.

Yet, he noted, Israel maintains its defenses and existence, builds up the country and gathers in the dispersed who are settled on the land. These, he said, are miracles which cannot be fathomed except by the superior power of faith.
