The children of Dr. Max Naumann, president of the Union of National German Jews, extreme nationalist and bitter anti-Zionist, have left Germany for Palestine, it became known today. Naumann has been one of the most vigorous exponents of complete assimilation of the Jews and the most denunciatory of opponents to Zionism in Germany. He has endorsed the Hitler program and expressed hope that the National Socialist party would see fit to incorporate in its ranks his small group of extreme nationalists.
Only yesterday, Naumann’s declaration of support for Chancellor Hitler in the forthcoming election was made public. “The German Jews whose emotional ties with their German Fatherland are inseparable and whose national political fighting organization is this union, welcome the government’s decision to reject the further fruitless, and for Germans, dishonorable discussions by withdrawing from the League of Nations and the disarmament conference,” he wrote in behalf of his group.
A similar message was sent Hitler by the Reichsbund of Jewish Front Fighters. Their message expressed their determination “to stand for the Fatherland in the traditional military discipline to the last man.”
