China asked the speaker of the Israeli Knesset to cancel his scheduled meeting later this month with the Dalai Lama, warning it could hurt Jerusalem’s growing ties with Beijing. China’s ambassador to Israel raised the matter during a meeting Sunday with Avraham Burg, who stated that there is no reason the meeting should be interpreted as conveying an anti-China message.
