The eighth Zimriya Choral Festival opened here last night under the honorary chairmanship of Knesset Speaker Yisrael Yeshayahu. Fourteen choirs from nine countries sang to a full house which included ministers and public personalities.
The Russian New Immigrants Choir began the concert with the song. “Prisoners of Zion.” Eight of the singing groups had non-Jewish members.
Eighteen local choirs will join the visiting choruses in giving seven concerts in army camps, twenty-two in kibbutzim, and three in towns.
