Rabbi Maurice N. Eisendrath, president of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, denounced last night efforts of Christian missionaries to convert Jews as “a kind of religious imperialism” and doomed to fail. He called such efforts “totally ineffective.”

Speaking at a dinner of the Metropolitan Conference of the National Federation of Temple Brotherhoods, the Reform leader said “such invidious missionary activities” were “out of harmony with the modern era” no less than colonial imperialism. Dr. Eisendrath was honored as the “Man of the Year, ” by the conference.
