Outstanding Seattle church leader and president of the Seattle Council of Churches, the Rev. Dr. John B. Magee, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will speak on “What Christianity Owes to Judaism” at Herzl Synagogue Tuesday as the sixth lecture in a series of seven on “4,000 Years of Jewsih Contributions to Civilization.” Rabbi Philip A. Langh will welcome Dr. Magce.
More than 400 listeners, Jews and non-Jews, heard Rabbi Langh’s lecture on “Great Jewish Thinkers” this week in which he declared, “Philo in Egypt, Maimonides in Spain, Spinoza in Holland, Freud in Austria, Bergson in France and Einstein-fromerly of Germany, and now, we hope, of American-stand out like beacon lights, all of them geniuses, shedding lustre on Israel and spreading light throughout the world.”
